Visiting Canada

Getting to Vancouver Island – Plan ahead

So far I have arrived on the Island by ferry and by airplane. West Jet, Air Canada, Delta and several other airlines offer flights into Victoria Airport. From Seattle or from Vancouver the flight is short … around 30 minutes. There is no time for in-flight food or drink service. Most of the airlines operate prop planes into Victoria airport our Delta flight was not.

RESERVATIONS …MAKE THEM. Black Ball Ferry Line M.V. Coho operates a car and passenger ferry from Port Angeles, Washington to Victoria, BC. It crosses the Straight of Juan de Fuca between the city of Port Angeles, Washington and Victoria, British Columbia’s Inner Harbor.

Washington State Ferries operates ferries out of Anacortes, Washington stopping at one of the San Juan Islands on the way to Sidney, BC. Which island depends on the schedule.

BC Ferries operates ferries between Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island and Tsawwassen on the mainland of British Columbia. 16 sailings daily lasting 1 hour, 35 minutes.

You must be in line one hour before the sailing time. If not by 30 minutes they can give your space away. PASSPORT PASSPORT PASSPORT…. Don’t forget!

  1. Hey my sweet sister. I’m loving your posts and jealous you couldn’t just pack me into a suitcase so I could go with you. Enjoy and be safe. Love ya.

  2. I’m so happy for (with) you. I’m looking forward to reading about your adventures and what you learn along the way.
